Two-Phase Treatment in Atlanta and Marietta, GA

Our orthodontist, Dr. Marc S. Wright, offers two-phase treatment and other orthodontic services for children, teens and adults in Atlanta, Marietta, and the surrounding areas of Georgia.

What is Two-Phase Treatment?

Two-phase treatment is an orthodontic approach that improves facial structure and straightens the teeth. Your child should be evaluated by an orthodontist around seven years old to determine if the teeth and jaw are developing properly. If no issues are found, Dr. Marc S. Wright may recommend periodic evaluations every six to 12 months. During these appointments, Dr. Marc S. Wright keeps an eye on how the baby teeth are being replaced by permanent teeth.

If the initial evaluation determines that your child will benefit from orthodontics, Dr. Marc S. Wright will develop a two-phase treatment plan.

What Are the Benefits of Two-Phase Treatment?

The benefit of using a two-phase treatment in lieu of waiting until your child is in the teenage years is that many problems can be minimized (and possibly eliminated) with earlier treatment.

How Much Does Two-Phase Treatment Cost in Atlanta?

A two-phase treatment plan is customized to the unique needs of your child, so the cost does vary. After the free initial consultation with Dr. Marc S. Wright, our patient coordinator reviews the cost of the plan, including any amounts covered by your dental insurance. You may have out-of-pocket costs. Wright Orthodontics strives to keep our two-phase treatment plans affordable for families while ensuring that children receive the best care. If you would like to make monthly payments for the two-phase treatments, we invite you to learn about financing through CareCredit®.

What Should I Expect from Two-Phase Treatment?

During the first phase, the focus is placed on jaw development to ensure that the permanent teeth erupt properly and that the jaw bones fit together appropriately. Jaw anomalies can be detected as early as six years old, and children who are eight years old and have erupting permanent teeth can still benefit from this phase of treatment.

After the first phase, Dr. Marc S. Wright recommends a resting phase, during which time your child’s teeth and jaw develop naturally. Dr. Marc S. Wright will continue to monitor progress to identify problems early.

The second phase of treatment is what most parents are familiar with for orthodontic treatments. Braces are installed on the teeth to improve position and orientation in the mouth. Without the first phase of treatment, this phase may be more complex.
