Orthodontic Retainers
in Atlanta and Marietta, GA

Our orthodontist, Dr. Marc S. Wright, offers retainers and other orthodontic treatments for children, teens and adults in Atlanta, Marietta, and the surrounding areas of Georgia.

What Are Retainers?

After you have your braces removed or finish with the last aligner in your Invisalign® series, Dr. Marc S. Wright may recommend a retainer. These are special orthodontic appliances that help keep your teeth in the new position. You may need a retainer for just a few years or for a lifetime.

Retainers are typically made of plastic that is molded to match the contours and shape of your upper palate or behind your front lower teeth. A wire is integrated into the plastic to fit behind or in front of your teeth.

What Are the Benefits of Retainers?

Patient Reviews

“First impressions are everything and Wright Orthodontics left an amazing first impression! The office is nice and clean, the wait was short, and everyone was very friendly and thorough. For my first visit ever, I was pretty much in and out. I’m excited to see my results from Invisalign and I feel even more confident after this visit because of Dr. Wright and the staff. So happy I was referred by my cousin. Thank you so much!”

How Much Do Retainers Cost in Atlanta?

If Dr. Marc S. Wright recommends a retainer for you or your child, our patient coordinator will review the cost, including any amount that may be covered by insurance. For your out-of-pocket costs, we offer financing through CareCredit®.

Retainers are often lost or broken, and the replacement may not be covered by your insurance policy. Patients should take care with their retainers and always keep a case on hand should it ever need to be removed temporarily.

What Should I Expect from Retainers?

Dr. Marc S. Wright uses several types of retainers.

  • Fixed retainers that fit behind the lower or upper front teeth. These retainers are fixed to the teeth with dental cement. You may need to use a special tool to floss your teeth.
  • Removable retainers have a wire that goes across the front of the upper or lower teeth. The retainer can be removed for cleaning and eating. Removable retainers are typically worn 24 hours per day for up to three months. If the teeth stay in position, Dr. Marc S. Wright may recommend using the retainer at night or a couple hours during the day.
